This past weekend, our school put on my favorite event of the year thus far, Bolivia Day! Each year, Highlands celebrates our beautiful and diverse country with a day full of Bolivian food and traditional dances. Each class spends the semester learning a different dance and performs for the parents and community members. The high school students perform the most famous (and exciting!) of Bolivian dances called “Caporales.” Even the teachers and staff got in on the action! This year we performed the Afro-Bolivian dance called “Saya.” The costumes, music, and crowd made for a super fun day! I absolutely loved being able to learn more about this country we call home and truly be able to not just appreciate, but participate in the culture. Honestly, a description of the day doesn’t do it justice. So, here are some photos!
